Created in Germany over two decades ago, CEREC - which stands for Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramics - is an dental crownsamazing technology offers a completely different approach to how porcelain dental restorations are made. Similar to a 3D printer, the CEREC unit carves out a perfectly shaped crown or inlay that has shown to be as durable - if not more so - than a lab-created restoration. Not all dentists offer this technology, but Dr. John Stockdale of Renaissance Dental Care in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, is proud to have CEREC available to his patients. Learn about its benefits here.

More comfortable

If you've ever had a clay impression taken of your teeth, you know that the paste is sticky and messy and the trays are bulky and uncomfortable. CEREC eliminates this process by using three-dimensional digital pictures of your teeth. One of our trained staff members will use a handheld wand to take several images of the area where your restoration will be placed. These images are then uploaded to the milling unit, where your restoration will be carved out of porcelain.

Better fit

Lab-created crowns often need fine-tuning before they can accurately fit into the space where they're needed. Even with digital measurements, the ceramic is still often too wide or long to fit properly. With CEREC, there's no need for your Rancho Cucamonga dentist to file, reshape, and refit your restoration because the machine can mill down to an accuracy of 7.5 microns. To put that in perspective, one of your hairs is about 200 microns wide.

Time saving

With CEREC, there's no need to have an ill-fitting temporary crown for a few weeks, only to return to your dentist's office again for the placement of your permanent restoration. Your procedure, measurements, and creation of the final restoration that finishes it can be done in just one appointment!

Have you been thinking about replacing your missing teeth? Innovative dental implants feel more like your natural teeth than any other denal implantsrestoration option. Our Rancho Cucamonga, CA, dentist, Dr. John Stockdale, explains how your smile can benefit from implants.

What makes dental implants more comfortable?

Only the visible part of your tooth is replaced when you opt for a bridge or dentures, but dental implants replace both the root and the crown of a missing tooth. Implants are synthetic roots made from titanium, a lightweight metal that's also used in hip replacements. The titanium posts are placed in your jawbone after a small opening is made during minor oral surgery.

One of the most interesting aspects of titanium is its ability to bond to bone. Thanks to this capability, your dental implant becomes a permanent part of your jawbone in just three to six months. Bonding is the most crucial step of the entire process because it ensures the stability of your replacement root. When your implant bonds completely, your tooth will feel completely natural and will never slip or move if you take a bite of pizza or steak.

What can I expect if I choose a dental implant?

The minor surgery needed to place your titanium post happens during your first implant appointment. Because the healing process takes a few months, you may receive a temporary tooth or bridge to fill the gap in your smile while you wait for bonding to occur. After your titanium post has fully bonded, an abutment, a screw that connects the implant to the crown, will be added. During this appointment, an impression of your mouth will be made that will be used to create your crown. You'll visit our Rancho Cucamonga office when the crown is ready for the final step of the implant process.

How do I take care of an implant?

Taking care of your implant is easy and only requires daily brushing and flossing. Flossing carefully around the base of the crown is particularly important because it can help you avoid an infection that may threaten the health of your implant. Fortunately, good oral hygiene will help you avoid this problem.

If you are missing teeth, chewing can become very difficult. All-on-4 dental implants are strong, stable, and extremely durable. All-on-4 dental implants fit, feel, and function just like your own teeth. All-on-4 dental implants will allow you to eat your favorite foods with confidence.

Experiencing pain anywhere in the teeth, gums or mouth is often a sign of oral health problems, such as the presence of cavities or gum root canaldisease. Certain types of pain and discomfort are signs you may need a root canal. If you do need a root canal, it is important to seek treatment as soon as possible in order to prevent additional oral health problems from occurring. At Renaissance Dental Care, Dr. John Stockdale is your Rancho Cucamonga dentist for performing root canals and treating other oral health problems.

Signs and Symptoms

There are several signs and symptoms you may need a root canal. When you recognize any of the signs, see your Rancho Cucamonga dentist for evaluation and treatment. Signs you may need a root canal include:

  • Chronic pain or pressure in the mouth
  • Severe oral pain, particularly in the teeth
  • Sharp pain when biting down or chewing
  • Sensitivity and pain when consuming hot or cold foods and beverages

Root Canal Treatment

When tooth decay spreads from the soft pulpy center of a tooth down into the root, an abscess can form below the tooth. If an abscess develops, a root canal is necessary to preserve the tooth. An untreated abscess can lead to additional complications, including extraction of the infected tooth. Root canal treatment is similar to the procedure for filling a cavity. The dentist removes the decayed and infected area. The area is thoroughly cleaned, then filled in. Following a root canal procedure, the treated tooth will be strong and healthy once again.

Benefits of Root Canals

The thought of undergoing a root canal is intimidating for many patients. However, the procedure is not scary at all and is similar to having a cavity filled. Further, there are several benefits to having a root canal.

  • Root canals preserve the natural teeth.
  • Root canals make it possible to avoid extraction of infected teeth.
  • Root canals strengthen teeth weakened by infection and decay with the use of a dental crown.
  • Root canals restore regular tooth functions, such as biting and chewing.
  • Root canals protect the surrounding teeth by reducing strain on them.
  • The root canal procedure is a simple one similar to filling a cavity.

There are several signs you may need a root canal. If you are experiencing any of the signs or symptoms, see Dr. Stockdale, your Rancho Cucamonga dentist. To schedule an appointment, contact Renaissance Dental Care at (909) 987-0040.

Learn about dental implants from your Rancho Cucamonga dentist.dental implants

Are you ready for a brand new smile? Dental implants are a popular, long-term solution for people with missing teeth. Renaissance Dental Care in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, offers state-of-the-art dental implants to their patients. Dr. John Stockdale is one of the country's finest dentists. Read on to get answers to frequently asked questions about dental implants.

What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are an aesthetic alternative to dentures and bridgework. Implants are small anchors made of titanium that are inserted into the jawbone to take the place of your missing tooth roots. After the bone has bonded to the implants, replacement teeth are secured to the top of the implants.

Why Do People Choose Implants?

The decision to replace your missing teeth with dental implants is an excellent investment in your appearance and the quality of your life. Implants will make your smile whole again. They will fill out a face that otherwise would look sunken because of lost teeth. Dental implants will also help restore your ability to chew food.

Are Dental Implants Right For You?

You are an ideal dental implant candidate if you have healthy gums and adequate bone to support implants. You must be committed to thorough dental hygiene to keep your smile healthy and schedule regular dental visits. If you want to get your smile back, ask your dentist if dental implants are an option for you.

How Do I Care For Dental Implants?

Good oral hygiene must take place before, during and after placement of implants to keep them healthy. Dental implants are like your own teeth and will require conscientious at-home oral care and regular dental visits. In order to keep your new dental implants plaque-free, brushing and flossing still apply.

What Will Happen Without Treatment?

One or more missing teeth can have many negative effects on your oral health including shifting of teeth and changes in the jaw joint. Without treatment, your jawbone will begin to shrink from lack of stimulation. Losing your teeth will also affect your smile and change the shape of your face, causing you to look prematurely aged.

You look so much better when you smile. Make your smile your signature accessory. Call Renaissance Dental Care in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, at (909) 987-0040 right now to schedule your consultation with Dr. Stockdale. Don't you owe it to yourself to get your smile back?
